Right Front: CO 31(35,38) sts. Work 1x1 rib for 5 rows, then 5 rows of st st. Next row (RS) begin decreases. Knit across to last 3 sts, k2 tog, k1. Repeat dec row every 3rd (3rd, 4th) row (when dec is on WS row p2tog for dec), 6 (7, 7) times, 24(27,30) sts. Work even until work measures 6 _(7,8) inches from beginning, end with WS row.
Begin increases: *Work to last 2 sts, M1 k2. St st 3 rws, repeat from * 6(7, 8) times, 31(35,39) sts. Work even until piece measures 18(19 _, 21 _) inches from beginning.
Begin armhole shaping: On WS row BO 4 sts, p across. *K next row. P1, p2 tog, p across. Repeat from * 4(5,6) times. At the same time, when armhole is 1 inch deep, begin neck shaping. Dec 1 st at neck edge every other row 10 (11,12) times. Work even until armhole measures 7(7 _,8), ending with a RS row. BO 4(4,5) sts at beginning of next two alternate rows. BO remaining 4(6,6) sts.
Left Front: Make same as right front, reversing shaping.
Sleeve: (Make two) CO 36, work 1x1 rib for 5 rows, work next 4 rows in st st. Dec 1 st each end of next row and every 10th row 3 more times. Work even in st st until total length of sleeve is 11 (11 _, 11 _) Ò. Inc 1 st at each end of next row and every 4th row 5 (6,7) more times, 40 (422,44) sts. Work even until 18 _(19,19 _) inches from CO.
End with WS row.
Begin armhole shaping: BO 4 sts at beginning of next two rows. Dec 1 st at each end of next and every alternate row 5 times. Work 3 (5, 7) rows even. BO 2 sts at beginning of next 4 (6,8) rows BO remaining sts.
Seaming: Sew shoulder seams.
Neckband: From right side, starting at lower right front edge, pick up 53(57, 63) sts along front edge, 22 (23,24) sts along front neck edge, and 16 (17,17) sts across back neck edge, duplicating down left front. Adjust stitch count if you have altered length of garment. Work 1x1 rib for 5 rows, BO.
Finishing: Sew in sleeves. Sew side seams and underarm seams.
Fringe: Fringe is tied into the ribbed edges of the coat and sleeves. Cut yarn pieces 8"long. Take two strands of Springy Capelli and two strands of Recylced Silk, fold in half and use crochet hook to pull fringe through and knot. Attach one bunch of fringe in third row of ribbing in purl ditch and attach two bunches of fringe in knit sts, at the edge (BO row) and in the first row. Continue around entire front and neckband. In sleeve ribbing place one ÒbunchÓ of fringe in third row of ribbing in purl ditch and only one bunch in the fifth row of knit sts.
*This keeps the sleeve edge fringe from being too dense and clumsy.
