Finished measurements: Medium Size Head Opening: 18.5" Cap Top (Layed Flat): 11.5" Under Cap: 3"
Crochet Hook "K" (6.5mm) to give proper gauge
Note: Use three strands of yarn throughout, Changing Novelty yarn ever |
Top of Cap:
Foundation Row: Ch 4, sl st in 1st ch, forming ring.
Round 1: Ch2, 12 sc in ring, sl st in 2nd ch of starting ch, (13 sts)
Round 2: Ch 3, dc in same st, *dc in next sc, 2 dc in next sc *around, sl st in top of starting ch 3 (21 sts).
Round 3: Ch 3, dc in same st, *dc in next 2 sts, 2 dc in next st *around, sl st in top of starting ch 3. Continue to add one more st between increases(2 dc in next st) each round.
Note: Picture shows 8 rounds, ending with 7 sts between increases. When tam is desired diameter, begin decreasing rounds as follows.
Under Side of Cap: First dec round: Ch 3,dc in next 6 dc, dec (insert hook in next dc, pull up loop, yo, draw through two loops on hook, insert hook in next dc, pull up loop, yo, draw through two loops on hook, yo, draw through 3 loops on hook), dc in next 7 sts, dec. Repeat around. Sl st in top of starting ch 3. If you work less than 8 rounds , do your decreases over the two increases in the previous row. Continue working decrease rounds until hat is almost small enough to fit around head comfortably.
Band Finishing: Work one round of sc without any decreases for hat band.
