Body: Cast on 22 (25, 28) sts. Work decs as follows, every 8th row. K1, ssk, k to last 3 sts, k2tog, k1. Work decs until there are 8 (9, 10) sts remaining and end after last dec row. Place the 8 (9, 10) stitches on waste yarn or stitch holder. Make 13 panels.
Sew panels together with wrong sides together so seam side is the right side. Pick up 104 (117, 130) sts from yarn holder on the 10 circular needles and work in st st for 4 inches.
Division for Armholes: (RS) K 21 (25, 30); place rem st on holder. Work R front panel as foll: (WS) Purl across; (RS) K to last 3 st, k2 tog, k1. Rep these 2 rows twice more (18, 22, 27 st). P next row (WS), then beg dec for neck edge: K1, ssk, k to end. Rep these 2 rows until 10 st rem. Work even in st st until panel measures 7" from beg of armhole. Place these 10 st on holder.
Return to st placed on holder earlier; slip first 6 st to small stitch holder or waste yarn. K 50 (55, 58); 27 (31, 36) st remain on holder. Work back panel as foll: (WS) Purl across; (RS) k1, ssk, k to last 3 st, k2 tog, k1. Rep these 2 rows twice more (44, 49, 52 st). Work even in st st until panel measures 7" from beg of armhole. Place st on holder.
Return to last section of st remaining on the original stitch holder; slip first 6 st to small stitch holder or waste yarn. K 21 (25, 30). Work L front panel as for R front, reversing shaping.
Join Shoulders: Work 3 ndl bind off over 10 shoulder sts. Put remaining back sts on holder.
Sleeves: (Worked in rounds) Pick up 56 sts evenly around armhole. Work decs as follows, every 4th rnd. K1, ssk, k to last 3 sts, k2 tog, k1. Work until sleeve measures 5" from armhole edge. 40 sts remain, but try on to make sure fit is correct. Work 4 rnds garter st cast off in k.
Band: Using 40" size 10 ndl, pick up sts around bodice and skirt of sweater picking up every stitch. Place markers at the corners of skirt and corners of V neck, inc 1 st before and after markers every rnd. Work 2 rnds of garter st.
Buttonholes: Worked in the right side of bodice as follows: work until you reach the bodice, k3 sts bind off 2 sts, work 8 sts bind off 2 sts, work 8 sts, bind off 2 sts, work until you reach the bound off sts and make 2 sts by e loop method. Work 1 more rnd, bind off in knit stitch.
